Unpacking your new Snunk! and preparing it for de-hibernation.
1: Unpack Everything
Package contents:Snunk! Pet
Food and Water Bowl
Solar Charging Station
30 Non-toxic Snunk! Food Packets
2: Set up Food, Litter and Charging Stations
Place the Food and Water bowl, and the Litter Box, in areas of your home where they will be convenient to you but unlikely to be disturbed. Snunk! food is non-toxic to other housepets, and designed to be unattractive to them, but it's still a good idea to keep the Snunk! feeding station separated from your other pets' food.
You may find it convenient to put the Litter Box near a trashcan. Please do not use traditional cat litter or sand in your Snunk!s Litter Box.
Place the charging station on the floor under a sunny window, or under a bright lamp. The station is designed to operate with a minimum of three hours of bright incandescent light daily. Your Snunk! will let you know if it needs more light.
3: Prepare Snunk! for De-hibernation
Connect the Snunk! to your computer using the supplied USB cable. The Snunk!s USB port is located in its left-front armpit. You do not need to turn off your computer when you connect the Snunk!
Place the Software CD-ROM in your computer, and follow the onscreen instructions to install the Snunk! Pet Interface (S!PI). This is the program you will use to train, track, and test your Snunk!
S!PI should now ask you if you want to start the Self-Check mode on your Snunk! Make sure that the Snunk! is on a flat surface with several inches of clearance all the way around, as it will need to be able to stretch its legs. Click the Start button when you are ready. The Self-Check mode tests all of your Snunk!s sensors, muscles, and organs, and performs some basic diagnostic tests on memory and firmware. S!PI will also contact Technical Support and download any firmware updates at this time.
You will now be given an opportunity to teach your Snunk! Pet its name. This is the first step in Snunk! training, but you may skip it for now if you like: you can always name your Snunk! later.
Your Snunk! is now ready for de-hibernation: click the De-Hibernate button to wake it up for the first time!
4:Snunk!s First Steps
Your newly awakened Snunk! will need to get its bearings now. Unplug the USB cable and carry the Snunk! to its Charging Station. Set it down on its feet next to the Station. The Snunk! will recognize where it is, curl up on the Station, and wrap its tail around itself to show that it is charging and shouldn't be disturbed.
5:Quiet Time in a New Home
Your Snunk! will charge for a few minutes, then get up and start exploring its new home, mapping your floorplan and finding its Food/Water Bowl and Litter Box. You new Snunk! is now on its own-- give it some quiet time to explore a little and keep an eye on it to make sure it doen't get into any trouble. It will let you know if it needs anything.
Now would be an excellent time to look through the rest of this manual.
