a memo
So you want to edit video from your DV camera, and you can't afford a Macintosh? Well, tough for you, but there are alternatives, and their names are Linux:
Kino capture and edit tool
Cinelerra video editor
Linux 1394 Resources (IEEE 1394 = iLink = Firewire)
I've captured and edited full quality DV video using Red Hat 8.0 and a program called dvgrab. Also tried Kino and it worked. Horray! I'm not happy with Red Hat for other reasons, though, so I'm giving Debian another shot.
